SIRCC is committed to ensuring young people's needs, rights and views are at the heart of the services we provide, but also that they are involved and influential in shaping those services.
SIRCC listens and works collaboratively with young people and other key stakeholders, however it is important to say that the views and experiences of young people are not simply among many different inputs to our work, but rather this input is vital to the success of our work.
We continue to benefit from the input of children and young people, through the work of our partner organisation Who Cares? Scotland. Including:
- Leading the Young People's Involvement Forum
- Capturing the views of young people on a variety of topics related to living in residential child care
- Integrating these views throughout the services of SIRCC and the sector
- Children and young people’s experiences are a key focus of our research
- Research will be led by children and young people themselves
- SIRCC's partner universities support user and carer involvement in the development of their professional social work degree programmes. RGU was awarded a 'Care Accolade' for its work in this area
