Supervising and Developing Your Staff

Course Aim: 
To ensure that participants understand, and are competent in, staff supervision and professional development
Course Objectives: 
Understand and apply the principles and main methods of staff supervision
Appreciate the developmental opportunities provided by working alongside their supervisees
Demonstrate an understanding of the dynamics of the supervisor/supervisee relationship with particular reference to issues of power and discrimination
Have tried out skills in providing coaching and feedback
Have evaluated your own knowledge and skills as far as supervision and staff development are concerned
SVQ Underpinning Knowledge: 
This course will provide evidence for units at SVQ Level 4.
Target Group: 
This course will be useful for Unit Managers, deputy managers and External Managers
Course Length: 
3 days, plus a follow up day approximately 2 months later
