Course Aim:
To provide participants with an opportunity to explore relevant values and develop the knowledge and skills necessary to provide a safe and caring environment for children and young people who have been sexually abused
Course Objectives:
Demonstrate a basic knowledge about sexually abusive behaviour and its consequences for the survivor and other family members
To be able to discuss your own feelings and experiences of working with young people who have been sexually abused and who abuse others
To recognise and challenge some of the common assumptions and misconceptions about sexual abuse
To show an awareness of the skills you already possess that will offer a supportive way of working with abused children and young people
To outline some of the practical issues and difficulties in providing safe care for children and young people who have been sexually abused

This course may provide evidence for units HSC 34 and 325
Higher National Certificate:
This course provides an introduction to concepts explored in the Protection of Individuals from Abuse.
