Management Skills for New and Aspiring Managers

Course Aim: 
To provide new or aspiring residential child care managers with some basic knowledge, tools and practice for management
Course Objectives: 
Defined and considered their range of responsibilities, role boundaries and delegation
Considered staff supervision and development needs
Been sensitised to oppressive practices in the workplace
Considered strategies to improve team functioning and meetings
Examined individual and group decision making processes, including how to manage change and consider their time management
Considered their time management
SVQ Underpinning Knowledge: 
This course will provide evidence for units at level four in the SVQ
Target Group: 
New unit or deputy Unit Managers or aspiring managers, or those who have had no previous management training
Course Length: 
3 days, run separately or consequtively. This course can be shortened, or lengthened, or the range of topics altered to meet agency requirements.
