Disability Awareness

Course Aim:
To increase awareness levels of disability within group living environments
Course Objectives:
Have an understanding of getting to know the person behind the disability
Demonstrate an understanding of her/his needs as an individual and the additional needs arising from the disability
Look at some of the communication issues facing staff
SVQ Underpinning Knowledge:
This course may provide evidence for unit HSC 31 and 34
Higher National Certificate:
This course provides and introduction to concepts explored in the units Social Care Theory for Practice, Understanding and Supporting Behaviour, Psychology for Social Care Practice and Sociology for Social Care Practice.
Target Group:
This course will be useful for all grades of practitioner and multi-disciplinary groups e.g. domestic, teaching and field social work staff
