Course Aim:
To help workers communicate more effectively with children and young people with learning difficulties and complex needs
Course Objectives:
Have a better understanding of the issues involved in communicating with children and young people with severe and complex needs
Be able to develop communication plans for individual children and young people
Be able to use the idea of a communicating environment
Be more able to address difficult and painful issues with children and young people
Understand the importance of positive identity and develop practical methods for enhancing this

The course will provide evidence for unit HSC 31
Higher National Certificate:
This course provides an introduction to concepts explored in the unit Social Care Theory for Practice, Understanding and Supporting Behaviour and Psychology for Social Care Practice.
Target Group:
This course will be relevant for practitioners working in disability services.
Course Length:
2 days with an optional recall day.
