Course Aim:
To ensure that staff working with children and young people have a knowledge of the principles and purposes of the Care Planning and the Review process for children and young people who are accommodated and looked after
Course Objectives:
Understand the stages of getting to know the child or young person, their immediate and extended family and significant others
Explain briefly the concept of pedagogy in residential child care
Obtain the necessary information to compile an assessment, further information to form a care plan and practice agreement for the child or young person in your unit
Be able to put the care plan into action
Recognise the importance of regular reviews of the care plans and encouraging a child or young person to have their say
Assess the action record in the age appropriate form

Higher National Certificate:
This course provides and introduction to concepts explored in the unit Social Care Theory for Practice.

This course will be useful all practitioners working with children and young people in residential child care.
