Analysis of the Use of Residential Child Care Placements in North Ayrshire

This study will analyse the use of residential child care placements in North Ayrshire over a six month period. Attention will be paid to the number and type of placements, how placements are managed, common characteristics in the needs of the children and young people and their reasons for being accommodated, and an assessment of the placement outcomes for children and young people. Views will be sought from unit and senior managers as to the appropriateness of the placements made. This data will also be analysed in the context of North Ayrshire’s use of foster placements and out of authority residential placements over the same period.
