Practical Risk Management for Managers in Residential Child Care

Course Aim:
To help managers and deputies to develop or refine the framework for dealing with risk management in a residential child care home. This course may also be suitable for other experienced senior practitioners. Participants should normally have undertaken the introductory course.
Course Objectives:
Distinguish between different kinds of risk in a service
Assess the most significant risks in a home.
Identify control mechanisms in the light of the most significant risks.
Apply risk management tools to promote safe care.
Consider impediments to effective risk management in a residential child care home.

This course may provide evidence for unit HSC 34
Target Group:
Staff members managing in residential child care. The course can be adapted for different groups of workers.
