National Approach to Anti-Bullying

SIRCC continues to play an active part as a representative member of the government's 'Scottish Anti-bullying Steering' (SABS) group. The Scottish Government, through SABS, has published a consultation document 'that sets out a draft national approach to anti-bullying in Scotland.' The paper outlines broadly the contributions to this approach by sectors and stakeholders nationally and highlights the role of SABS.

It is a consultation paper and responses are required by the end of February 2010. You can respond online.

There are particular issues of bullying related to children and young people in residential child care by virtue of this fact so it is likely that workers will have come across such issues and these could be relayed to SABS in response to this paper.

Please give time to this important area and feel free to contact Mike Sutherland (the SIRCC SABS representative) on m.sutherland@rgu.ac.uk.
