The Scottish Institute for Residential Child Care (SIRCC) operates a library and information service with a number of facilities, including a lending library and inquiries service. Our specialist library of over 4,000 book titles and periodicals on residential child care and related fields is open to residential workers, managers, students, academics and others with an interest in the field of residential care for children and young people. Our priority is to provide resources for workers who do not have easy access to any other academic or institutional library.
We also have a valuable collection of series and periodicals relating to the field, and operate a postal loans service covering the whole of Scotland.
Borrowing Books and Materials
If you want to borrow books and materials from us, you can either visit the Library in person between 9.15am and 5.00pm Monday to Friday, or else phone, fax or email to arrange a postal loan. Items (up to six at a time) may normally be borrowed for one calendar month, but may be renewed once only by phone, fax or email provided they have not been requested by another reader.
Items may be recalled early if they have been requested by another reader. Items that are in heavy demand may be put on short loan.
