Events & Conferences

Conference Image

Each year SIRCC organises a variety of events, conferences and seminars which aim to:

  • Move policy and research into practice
  • Explore new and emerging themes and issues
  • Listen to young people's views
  • Work with and learn from colleagues who work in a variety of different settings whose work impacts on residential child care

All our events meet the post-registration training and learning (PRTL) requirements set by the SSSC.

Held each June, The National Conference has a growing influence on the sector, attracting a mixed audience, international interest, and providing a great arena for networking and showcasing excellence in residential child care.

Sponsorship is particularly appreciated for this event to enable staff at all levels to attend and for specific aspects of the programme.

The call for papers goes out in October and November and is open to practitioners as well as academics.

Other events include joint conferences with other organisations and a variety of seminars on topics of particular and developing interest or for specific groups within the sector.

Event listing is a new SIRCC service. If you have an event that is relevant to Social Care, which you would like listed on our National Events Calendar supply the following details:

  • Title of event
  • Date and venue (eg City)
  • Organisation(s) involved in organising the event
  • Web link address for the event if available

Please use our 'Add an event' form and do not send in further details. It is assumed that further details can be found on the web link that you provide. SIRCC reserve the right to select events for inclusion on the calendar.
