Associate Tutors and Consultants Scheme

SIRCC recruits suitably qualified and experienced individuals who are interested in contributing to the education and training of residential staff or in providing consultancy for the establishments or organisations in which they work. Associates are involved in range of activities such as designing and delivering specialist training, contributing to seminars/conferences and providing consultancy. We are particularly interested in recruiting individuals from more geographically distant parts of Scotland. We would also welcome individuals from minority ethnic backgrounds as such staff are currently under-represented in the SIRCC

How to Apply

SIRCC no longer accepts speculative applications for Associate Tutors & Consultants. Adverts for Specific Training Course Associate Tutors & Consultants are placed in relevant publications including SIRCCULAR and on this site.

Application packs will be distributed following advert.

On receipt of the application pack individuals should return the following:

  • the SIRCC Associate profile form
  • an up-to-date CV
  • the names and addresses of two referees, one of whom should be your current/most recent employer
  • a declaration of criminal offences and convictions
  • SIRCC Associate payment form

Applicants with relevant knowledge and experience will be invited to attend an interview prior to commencing work as an Associate Tutor/Consultant.

Support

Associate Tutors and Consultants will be provided with a range of support and resources available to the SIRCC. They will also be eligible to attend some short courses free of charge and will, on occassion, be invited to attend SIRCC staff training days.

Payment

Payment for Associates is normally between £30-£35 per hour. Payment is usually made on a PAYE basis. This normally includes payment for preparation time and, where applicable, travelling time to venues. The exception to this is where an individual is in full time employment and his/her employer releases him/her to work for the SIRCC during normal working hours. In such circumstances a fee payment can be made to the employer. The Associate's expenses will be reimbursed to him/her by the SIRCC. In exceptional circumstances, an alternative rate may be negotiated.
