Candidates should be involved in a broad range of complex, technical or professional work activities and have supervisory and line-management responsibility for staff. They will often be responsible for the work of others and for allocating resources. Their job title may be Assistant Manager, Depute Manager or Manager. Candidates are required to compile a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate understanding of theory, principles and practices.
Course Content
The following list illustrates the units that are available:
- Promote People's Equality, Diversity and Rights
- Develop, Maintain and Evaluate Systems and Structures to Promote the Rights, Responsibilities and Diversity or People
- Develop and Sustain Arrangements for Joint Working Between Workers and Agencies
- Assess Individual's Needs and Circumstances
- Evaluate Risk of Abuse, Failure to Protect and Harm to Self and Others
- Plan and agree service responses which meet individual's identified needs and circumstances plus four optional units from a choice of eight
Preferred Entry Qualifications
- Must be in employment within a Residential Child Care setting at a Senior Level and have supervisory and line-management responsibility for staff
- Current job role must include a range of complex primarily non routine tasks for which the candidate has considerable responsibility and autonomy
Assessment
- Continuous in the workplace
- Portfolio of evidence recorded on 'Paperfree' system
Duration
Minimum of one year with flexible start dates.
Attendance
Part-time distance learning.
Possible Progression Routes
SVQ Registered Manager in Health and Social Care Level 4 (subject to employment with supervisory responsibilities and management of financial resources).
